OUTCOME OF BASIC THERAPY FOR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS: POSSIBILITIES OF PROGNOSIS BY COLONOBIOPTATES EXAMINATION MEANS

Abstarct

Rectobioptates in 43 patients with rheumatoid arthritis before the beginning of basic therapy with metotrexate or sulfa drug were examined. In 1 year the results of the treatment were evaluated as "improvement" or "without improvement" by ACR criterion. 5 groups were singled out by discriminate analysis: taking metotrexate with the improvement in health status or without the same, taking sulfa drug with the improvement or without the same, without the improvement in health status with extremely quick progression irrespective of the preparation taking. The most contribution to the discrimination was made by the complex index which reflected the stage of joint injures, the presence of systemic manifestations and hormone dependence and the signs which characterized lymphoepithelial interrelations in rectum mucous cover (lymphatic follicles diameter, epithelial mitotic regimen indices, infiltration by malacoplakia-like macrophages). Therefore it was demonstrated the possibility to make prognosis of the outcome of basic therapy in dependence on the total evaluation of the clinical characteristics of the disease and that of the structure of the lymphoid tissue and rectum epithelium.
