- Objective – to define the prevalence of varicose veins of lower extremities (VVLE) in the city of Yaroslavl in 2011–2022 upon the data of official statistics. Material and methods. The retrospective study of some statistic parameters was performed; it was based on the reporting of state multidisciplinary hospitals (SMDH) in the city of Yaroslavl in 2011–2021. Results and discussion. According to the reports of official statistics the prevalence of VVLE among adult population in Yaroslavl in 2011–2022 was decreased from 14,70 to 7,55 per 1000 population, the morbidity of VVLE – from 4,06 to 0,6 per 1000 population. The structure of the contingent of patients with VVLE was characterized by the predominance of women and persons of middle age (45–59 years). Conclusion. The revealed tendency to the decreased prevalence and morbidity of VVLE is highly likely connected with the reorientation of the patient flow to private clinics for diagnosis and treatment for this disease. That’s why in order to perform adequate estimation of VVLE prevalence it is necessary to develop effective algorithms of such pathology detection in the population.
