Material and methods. 350 students (General Medicine department and Pediatrics department) of Ivanovo State Medical Academy were enrolled in the study in September, 2020. The knowledge level in the field of new coronavirus infection prophylaxis was not sufficient in medical students: 4% of them did not know the ways of this infection expansion, 80,0% underestimated the disease danger, 19% did not follow prevention indication, 25,5% did not know the measures procedure in suspicion of COVID-19 contamination. The majority of the respondents (78 %) found the term «new coronavirus infection» in social networks at first, and it implicated to have some risk of gaining doubtful and incomplete information. But 42,0 % of the students wanted to heighten their knowledge level, to gain some additional information upon the new coronavirus infection. Supplementary thematic lectures by infectiologists and epidemiologists might be delivered, mass media and visual aids might be used in order to improve the knowledge level upon the problem.
