THE STANDARDIZATION OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND PHYSICAL INTERNISTS’ ACTIVITY IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

- The necessity to improve medical rehabilitative aid for the population of the Russian Federation, to put it in accordance with international models, to increase the quantity of qualified specialists in the sphere of physical medicine gives grounds to develop professional standard (qualification requirements) “Physical internist”. Its mission is to determine the significance and the role of physical therapy in the complex of measures in medical rehabilitation / abilitation. This professional standard considers physical internist as the specialist with high education who develops and maintains motor functions (and functions which are connected with the above mentioned), mobility, prevents their disorders and restores them after disorders, improves the quality of life and promotes the integration of patients into society. The stores of physical internist includes various types of physical exercises, respiratory techniques, skills of mobilization, positioning and moving, massage techniques, natural and preformed factors of the nature. The peculiarities of such specialists training in different countries and modern standards of education and practice which are developed by World Physical Therapy Confederation are discussed. The Chinese experience in the reforming of rehabilitation system and specialists’ training is considered. The algorithm of measures for introduction of new specialty in Russia is suggested. The possibilities of professional development for the specialist of such type are described.
