- The objective is to study the medical and social profile of adolescents and their attitudes towards their health and primary health care. Material and Methods. The results of a sociological survey of adolescents in St. Petersburg and Ivanovo aimed at identifying life values in the field of health and age-specific behavioural risk factors (RFs), were analysed. Results and Discussion. The overwhelming majority of adolescents do not prioritise health as a valuable priority, though only half of them consider themselves healthy. A third of teenagers use psychoactive substances, half of the respondents ignore the sleep and nutrition regime. Adolescents’ health awareness on reproductive health and vaccination is particularly low. The frequency of hypodynamia risk doubled, while the regimen violation tripled due to the analysis of RF prevalence in children of early and late adolescence. A significant increase in alcoholic beverages consumption, poor motivation to keep a healthy lifestyle and give birth, the decreasing level of medical literacy were registered. Conclusion. Low motivation to preserve health among adolescents and young people is the most important medical and social problem of the society. It is to be addressed at the level of the family and educational organisations through educating activities. Preventive medical examinations should include recommendations on health saving to improve the system of adolescents’ health monitoring in medical organisations. Therefore, it is necessary to increase activity in promoting healthy lifestyles with the involvement of educational, medical, mass media and social network resources starting from the state level.
