- The article presents a clinical observation of a child with biliary atresia (BA), the first clinical manifestation of which was cholestasis syndrome with increasing the level of direct bilirubin in early neonatal period. The best survival and prognosis in BA depends on early diagnosis (in the first two months of life) and timely Kasai portoenterostomy. If untreated, progressive cirrhosis of the liver leads to patient’s death by the age of 2 years.
