- One of the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying major obstetric syndromes is angiopathy developing against the backdrop of gestational diabetes mellitus. Objective – to analyze sphygmography parameters in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus and obesity. Materials and Methods. A study was conducted involving 42 pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus and obesity. Volume sphygmography was performed using BPLab Angio. Results and Discussion. Blood pressure asymmetry was detected in all examined patients. The ankle-brachial index in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus was within the normal range. Brachialankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) and carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) were also within normal limits in all patients. Correlation analysis revealed a strong positive correlation between glycemia levels and baPWV (r = 0.83, p = 0.04). A moderate positive correlation was also found between the patients’ age and fasting glycemia levels (r = 0.60, p = 0.021), and between body mass index and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (r = 0.66, p = 0.02). Conclusion. Sphygmography can be used as an additional method for the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases during pregnancy complicated by gestational diabetes mellitus and obesity.
