HEMOGRAM PARAMETERS IN THE FIRST TRIMESTER OF PREGNANCY

Abstarct: Objective – to establish reference intervals for the hemogram in the first trimester of pregnancy using the Mindray BC-6200 analyzer. Materials and Methods. The main group included 233 healthy women with a normal singleton pregnancy at 5(0)–13(6) weeks of gestation; the comparison group consisted of 78 healthy non-pregnant women of reproductive age. Blood samples were processed on an automated Mindray BC-6200 analyzer. Reference intervals were established using the 2.5th and 97.5th percentiles of the distribution. Results and Discussion. In pregnant women in the first trimester, the red blood cell count, hemoglobin level, and hematocrit are significantly lower, while the total white blood cell count and inflammatory indices are significantly higher compared to non-pregnant women. It was also noted that in pregnant women, reticulocyte counts and the proportion of macrocytes are significantly higher, whereas the microcyte count is significantly lower compared to non-pregnant women. These changes reflect the presence of physiological hemodilution, inflammatory activation, and enhanced erythropoiesis. Conclusion. Reference intervals for 32 hematological parameters in normal first-trimester pregnancy were established using the Mindray BC-6200 analyzer. The obtained intervals can be used in clinical practice for the evaluation of laboratory parameters.
